DigiHealth

Empowering healthcare professionals with digital skills through collaboration, innovation, and education

About Us

Objectives

The DIGIHEALTH project aims to improve the digital skills of healthcare professionals, with the aim of effectively using digital technologies in their work. It is expected that the project will help improve the quality of patient care, the accessibility of health services and strengthen the employability and professional growth of medical workers. By addressing the digital skills gap, the project will contribute to the digital transformation of the healthcare sector and promote continuous learning and adaptation to technological advances.

Activities

The project activities will include a needs analysis to identify digital skills gaps. A comprehensive training programme for digital skills development and professional development for vocational education and training (VET) providers will be developed. The project will pilot the training with healthcare professionals, collect feedback and use it to improve the programme. Efforts will also be made to ensure the long-term viability of the training program and evaluate its impact on the health sector.

Results

It is planned to develop a tailored digital skills training programme, improve the digital competences of healthcare professionals and train a group of VET teachers. It is expected that more effective use of digital technologies will improve patient care. In addition, the project results will be widely disseminated to promote recognition of the importance of digital skills in healthcare, thus influencing policy and educational practice.

Business Case

WP2 follows a dual objective that is critical for both laying the foundational groundwork for the project’s core aims and ensuring its sustainability and impact in the healthcare, upskilling and VET sectors.

03

Through this dual goal, WP 2 lays a solid foundation for achieving DIGIHEALTH’s core aim of enhancing the digital Competencies of care professionals. This ensures there is recognition of the importance of digital skills in the care sector, and sets the stage for the successful roll out of the following results.

04

Also, by informing the development of the project’s outputs with a deep understanding of the sector's needs and the latest insights, WP2 guarantees that the project’s results are well-targeted and capable of making meaningful impact.

01

It aims to increase and encourage investments in the digital upskilling of healthcare personnel by enhancing the awareness among stakeholders, professionals and decision-makers in the care and VET sectors about the significant potential of digitalisation and its adoption in healthcare services for improved employee productivity, patient satisfaction, and quality of services.

This awareness-raising is crucial for building a conducive environment that recognizes the value of digital competencies in the care sector, encouraging investments in technology, and integrating digital skills training into educational curricula.

02

It aims to leverage the insights gained from the awareness-raising efforts to inform the development of DIGIHEALTH’s key outputs. This includes identifying digital training needs, building on existing initiatives, and incorporating advice from experts

These gained insights to ensure that the following online and offline training and upskilling efforts are based on a solid understanding of the current landscape and needs and that they are also positioned to effectively address those needs.

Target Groups

The primary target groups of the DIGIHEALTH project are professional care assistants and home helpers, focusing on those individuals working directly with the elderly and those requiring care in various settings. These professionals are at the forefront of integrating digital tools and technologies into their daily routines to enhance the quality of care provided. The project specifically aims to upskill these workers in digital competencies, ensuring they can effectively utilize digital health solutions to improve patient outcomes and increase efficiency within the care sector.

Additionally, the project targets IVET and CVET providers, including trainers and educators who play a crucial role in the initial and continuing education of care professionals. By equipping VET providers with the necessary tools and resources to incorporate digital health training into their curricula, the project seeks to ensure that future care professionals enter the workforce with a strong foundation in digital health competencies

Moreover, the project indirectly targets healthcare organizations, including care homes and home care services, by aiming to enhance the overall digital readiness of the care sector. Through the professional development of care assistants and home helpers, these organizations stand to benefit from improved service delivery, increased patient satisfaction, and enhanced employee productivity. In doing so, DIGIHEALTH addresses the broader goal of fostering a digitally competent healthcare workforce that can meet the challenges and opportunities presented by the digital transformation of healthcare services
